GentleWave Endodontic Retreatment

A Retreatment in One Procedure

Are you experiencing pain or discomfort with your root canal?

Teeth that have undergone a root canal will normally last a lifetime with proper care.  Sometimes a tooth that has been treated doesn’t heal properly and can become painful or diseased months or even years after treatment. If your tooth failed to heal or develops new problems, you have a second chance. An additional procedure may be able to support healing and save your tooth. If you start experiencing pain or discomfort in a treated tooth, it might be time for a retreatment.

During retreatment, we will reopen your tooth and remove the filling materials that were placed in the root canals during the first procedure. The doctor carefully examines the tooth, looking for additional canals or new infection. Unlike a standard root canal treatment, the retreatment will be done using Multisonic Ultracleaning™ technology. Using broad spectrum acoustic energy, this technology removes debris and tissue from your entire root canal system. It’s able to dissolve organic tissue 8x faster than conventional devices, and it reaches into the microscopic spaces that conventional root canal treatments cannot. The opening is then sealed with a temporary filling. Once the tooth heals, a new crown or other restoration is placed on the tooth to protect it.

Better Cleaning

Multisonic Ultracleaning™ technology’s broad spectrum acoustic energy removes debris and tissue from your entire root canal system. It’s able to dissolve organic tissue 8x faster than conventional devices, and it reaches into the microscopic spaces that conventional root canal treatments cannot.

Less Invasive

The GentleWave® procedure relies far less on instrumentation to clean your root canal system. Instead, the GentleWave® System uses a single-use sterilized handpiece to deliver broad spectrum acoustic technology and a powerful vortex of cleaning fluids throughout the canal. Many patients—especially those who have undergone root canal procedures in the past—describe the experience as comfortable.

Fewer Visits

Unlike many conventional methods, GentleWave root canal procedures can usually be completed in just one visit. In addition, because Multisonic Ultracleaning™ technology is so effective at cleaning and disinfecting the root canal system, you will be less likely to require additional treatments in years to come.

Multisonic Ultracleaning™ Technology: Advancing the Standard of Clean for Your Teeth.

Root canal procedures can save infected or damaged teeth by removing the pulp and bacteria from inside the tooth. Traditionally, this process has relied on metal files that physically scrape away decay and diseased tissue from within an infected root canal. But these files cannot easily reach everywhere within the canal, leaving as much as 60% of the canal space untouched. That means that bacteria is left to multiply inside your tooth—and over time, you could find yourself right back in your endodontist’s chair.

The GentleWave® System represents an innovative new way of cleaning your root canal. With breakthrough Multisonic Ultracleaning™ technology, a powerful vortex of treatment fluids, plus multiple waves of broad spectrum acoustic energy enable treatment fluids to reach every surface. Tissue, debris and bacteria are virtually eliminated, even in the microscopic tubules that traditional methods cannot reach providing unprecedented disinfection and a clean that has never been achieved before.

Once you compare patented Multisonic Ultracleaning technology to traditional root canal methods, you’ll see what sets GentleWave treatments apart.
